There are 3 bid reasons why you should always take care of your posture.

1. Improper posture can raise the risk of feeling of tightness in your chest, back pain and poor blood circulation.

2. If you correct the posture you can decrease the pain in your back, neck and shoulders.

3. Different studies have shown that a proper posture can improve mental clarity, reduce stress, improve the digestion process, boost the hormonal balance, breathing and improve your overall health.

However, there is one simple way that can help you to improve your posture. It is simple and amazing advice for muscles exercising and it is used when standing in a natural and useful position.

It is called laying extension and in yoga people call it grasshopper position (locust pose – shalabhasana).

Do this exercise gently and watch out for your needs and personal options. If you feel back pain you have to consult with your doctor before you start a new practice.

Step 1: First lie on the stomach, your face should look down. With the forehead touch the floor.

Step 2: Extend the legs behind and spread them hip-width apart. Properly distribute the weight over your feet.

Step 3: Slowly lift the upper part of the body and your head should be up. Perform this exercise slowly and lift as high as you can.

Step 4: Slowly inhale and raise the head up. At the same time look ahead. While you exhale lift the hands and fingers. You hands should be close to your body with palms facing down.

Step 5: With your thigh muscles lift the legs up. At this point your weight will rely on the lower abdomen, ribs and pelvis.

Hold this position from approximately 10 – 60 seconds, depending on your ability. Do this the exercise 5 – 10 times.

With this exercise you will strengthen the back muscles, legs and torso and you will improve the posture.
